The Oepsie Ostrich mascot competition was devised to assist the Wrigley Litter Less Campaign in South Africa. Five of the best Ostriches were sent on an unplanned adventure in South Africa with the goal of raising awareness on waste management.
Oepsie the charismatic ostrich on a skateboard, made by Dohan Schoonbee, has alerted us to the health risks such as cigarette butts left on the ground leaking cancer inducing chemicals into the soil and medicine dumped on the pavement. He has charmed lions and traffic cops, motivated children to take action, lost his cap and been at the WESSA Eco-Schools awards in the Eastern Cape.
